KARACHI: The Sindh government on Saturday ordered detention of Qari Hashim for three months under the Maintenance of Public Order ordinance after an anti-terrorism court in Hyderabad acquitted him in the Daniel Pearl murder case on Thursday.

A home department official confirmed to Dawn that the move was made in line with a proposal of the law enforcement and intelligence agencies that sought his detention in Hyderabad prison for 90 more days.
