LAHORE: Twenty-nine Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) members are still enjoying privileges as Members of the Punjab Provincial Assembly (MPAs) despite tendering their resignations.
Sources in the Punjab Assembly told Dawn that salaries are being transferred in the PTI members' accounts as their resignations have not yet been formally accepted. Therefore, members are still enjoying the perks, sources said.
PTI's Punjab opposition leader Mian Mehmoodur Rasheed has still not returned his official car.
Following the resignation of PTI Members of the National Assembly, the party's MPAs from Punjab also tendered resignations from their seats and added that the PTI would issue a 'white paper' against the 'dismal performance' of the provincial government.

The resignations had come as the PTI was engaged in protests and sit-ins against the Nawaz government over alleged rigging in the 2013 general elections.
As of now, PTI and the government are engaged in talks to broker a settlement over the political impasse that had gripped the country for weeks.

They are MPA's until the resignations are accepted. Instead of using media to slander, why doesn't the speaker accept them and issue a notification for return of all government property?

Who is responsible Govt or PTI?..............to me this is only happening because of Govt inefficiency, they are incompetent to run the state and have no solutions to any of the micro or macro issues country is facing be it dharna, flood, load shedding, inflation or this resignation of PTI members.

even the clouds does not like his act and warn them. It can be a hail storm of swear nature as a punishment. Must think what message you are sending.

@Hira , what a stupid observation. They do not want to resign but using as pressure tactics. Why Qureshi did not announce at floor of assembly as Hashmi did. It is bunch of hypocrites and liars who speak pack of lies every night to mislead young generation.

Why spread the news which has no logic. Plz tell the government to except the resignation . As long as their resignation is not excepted they are MP. Once resignation excepted it is govt responsible to discontinue all the benefits including their salaries etc. This govt is not only corrupted but incompetent as well.

I agree that technically they are MPs and they have the right to retain the perks unless they are under the pressure of conscience that since they have decided not to serve suffering people of Punjab they should not add to their agony by earning salary and perks for doing nothing whether or not resignation is accepted.

It is a clossal wastage of tax payers' money when they resigned it. They have demonstrated that they are not worthy of public trust. these folks should be permanently barred from election. Our tax payers spent huge amount in elections which disrupts everything and are very expensive otherwise. The electorates had given them mandate for five years. They have declined this mandate. Now, they should be held ineligible to run again. Let some more capable person come. Our electorates should remember the names of these folks who resigned prematurely and should never vote them again.

This is called double standard. They are sitting for end of corruption, but do not want to sacrifice anything. Whatever is coming in their pocket should continue to come plus they need extra money. and this could be achieved only if they are given PM thru back door.
KPK MPS, where they are in Govt. refuse to tender resignation. MNAs tender resignation in the name of IK instead of Speaker, and avoid to appear in speaker chamber to verify so that they can get salary and perks to give dharna instead of producing some meanigfull work in the assembly.

The point is that these only few Saaf and Sache MPAs stop working for people. It is their moral duty to return their salary since they are not providing services to the public for which they get compensation.

Headline suggests several MPs are using perks but only Mehmoodur Rasheed was named in the report.
I hope this was a typographical mistake and not a sweeping generalization.
