Army chopper crashes near Gujranwala; pilots safe

GUJRANWALA: A gunship helicopter of the Pakistan Army crashed close to the Gujranwala city limits on Monday but no casualties were reported from the ground.

Police said the pilots only received minor injuries.

SP Civil Lines Shoaib Khurran told reporters that the chopper fell in the area of Cantt police station Gujranwala in the open area of a factory.

He said two Army majors received some injuries as they had jumped while using parachutes when the chopper caught fire.

Army soldiers and police reached the spot for the rescue operation. The pilots were later shifted to the Combined Military Hospital here.—APP

The picture above is an MI 17 transport helicopter. The crashed heli was Cobra gunship. Cobra and other helicopters do not have parachutes for the pilots. Doesn't seem to be a Dawn correspondent's report.

It just highlights the standards of our media especially the print one including this renowned Dawn paper, they simply do not know that. There are no parachutes in helicopters. Pathetic piece of reporting, from this one piece one can gauge the validity of all their comments on military affairs.

If you dont have a picture of an event, just report it without any picture. This recycling of old pictures (as in this case here of this picture of a soldier squatting on the ground and a helicopter flying overhead that you have been adding to every other story involving military action) is stupid.

@Ahmed: Ahmed Sahib, Please, please don't critise the these so called journalist, they are not Walter Cronkite, Dan Rather or Roger Mudd, they are lifting and spreading garbage because they couldn't find anything else to do, they cannot even count cockroaches, our system calls for fake degrees, Zardari, Nawaz, Shahbaz and the whole lot.
