ISLAMABAD, April 15: A spokesperson for the Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation (PBC) has said that the appointment of its director general, Murtaza Solangi, was made purely on the basis of merit and professional ground.

The spokesperson said that Mr Solangi had the experience of working in the national and international media. During his stint at the PBC, Mr Solangi has paid special attention to improving contents of the news and current affairs programmes, and ensured that the organisation follows a balanced and neutral policy with no tilt to any political party.

He said that recently the PBC had introduced a code of ethics for election coverage which calls for neutrality and impartiality and the organisation is following this code in letter and spirit.—Staff Reporter
