LAHORE: The Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) police arrested on Wednesday two suspected militants linked with Al Qaeda and the Islamic Movement of Uzbekistan (IMU).

A spokesperson for the CTD said a police team after receiving information about the presence of the militants raided a football ground in Gulshan Ravi.

The police team arrested two suspects, identified as Umer Khayam and Nazir Ahmad, who were planning to attack government buildings in Lahore.

He said the police team also recovered 800 gram explosive material, four-foot prima card and two electric circuit detonators.

They were shifted to some undisclosed location for interrogation, the CTD spokesman added.
