GUJRANWALA: Two suspected robbers were killed in an alleged police encounter in the Model Town area on Tuesday. Both were wanted by police in various cases.

They had robbed two persons, identified as Shabbir and Ashraf, in B-Block of Model Town. As they reached near the Govt Comprehensive School Model Town, they faced a police mobile and opened fire on it.

A police contingent was called which surrounded the area. To escape from the area, the suspects fired at police who retaliated and both the robbers were killed in the fire exchange.

Two pistols, a mobile phone and a motorcycle were recovered from the suspects.

City SP Tahir Maqsood Cheena and Civil Lines SP Nadeem Khokhar also visited the spot.

The bodies of both the robbers were shifted to the district headquarters hospital for autopsy.

SEALED: An illegal medicine factory was sealed at Eimanabad.

Supervised by EDO Health Dr Saeedullah Khan, Kamoke drug inspector Umar Chattha raided the factory and found it manufacturing medicines without licence and qualified staff.

NOTICES: Excise and Taxation Department director Rao Shakeel Ahmad issued a show-cause notice to five property inspectors on charge of negligence.

The director told the media that some property inspectors were not going for the recovery of revenue which was being done by private persons and constables on their behalf.
