ISLAMABAD: The 21st Constitutional Amendment Bill and Pakistan Army (Amendment) Bill 2015 were presented in the National Assembly on Saturday.

Minister for Law, Justice and Human Rights Pervaiz Rashid tabled the motions in the Parliament today, which were later agreed upon by majority of the lawmakers present in the session.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was also present on the occasion. The session was adjourned till 4pm on Monday.

It was commenced to provide constitutional cover to the establishment of military courts in the country, with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in attendance.

The constitutional amendment bill will require to be passed by two-thirds of the total participants in both the 342-seat National Assembly and the 104-seat Senate; however, for amendment in the Army Act, a simple majority will be required.

The house spent its whole Friday sitting and continuing for the second day a debate on a Dec 16 Taliban terrorist attack on a Peshawar public school which left over 149 students and staff members dead.

Since the attack on the Army Public School in Peshawar, Pakistan's military and political leadership have taken strict measures to curb terrorism. PM Nawaz's announcement of lifting the moratorium on the death penalty and establishment of military courts in the country include the major developments in this regard.
