Scotland Yard arrests suspect in connection with Imran Farooq murder

LONDON: The London Metropolitan police on Wednesday said it has arrested a 30-year-old suspect in connection with ex-Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader Dr Imran Farooq's murder.
"A 30 year old man has been arrested in connection with the Imran Farooq murder case from the Waltham Forest area in London," a spokesperson for the London Metropolitan Police told Dawn.com.
Media reports quoting Scotland Yard said the suspect was said to be a British national of Pakistani origin. He is said to belong to a political party and is currently in detention at the Central London Police Station, according to the reports.
Earlier in May, British detectives had released photographs of two suspects they wanted to trace in connection with Farooq's killing.
The two Pakistani nationals were identified as 29-year-old Mohsin Ali Syed and 34-year-old Muhammad Kashif Khan Kamran.

Farooq, 50, a founding member of the MQM, was stabbed and beaten to death in Edgware, northwest London, as he returned home from work on September 16, 2010.
Farooq claimed asylum in Britain in 1999. He was wanted in Pakistan over scores of charges including torture and murder but always claimed the accusations were politically motivated.
He had twice been elected as a lawmaker in Pakistan but went into hiding in 1992 when the government ordered a military crackdown against MQM activists in Karachi. More than 200,000 mourners packed the streets of Karachi for his burial on November 6, 2010.

This is all about the murder case of Imran Farooq. Blackmailing by British authority. Their support towards Imran Khan is not hidden.
I am sure MQM is not involved in this murder case, even they lost their key guy. If MQM support PTI, case will solve in few seconds.

@Sheraz Sheraz you got it right. The present rulers are now either going to bribe, blackmail or threaten people to get support. However, InshAllah the righteous people are many and they would outweigh all these corrupt politicians who would compromise and make self-benefiting deals, all in the name of protecting democracy.

@Daas NS may not be able to influence Briish goverment but their "vested interest" in this region does. It is naive to think to that Western goverments don't do unethical things. From controlling media to judicial to trade organizations, they will bend rules in a heartbeat if it is in their "National interests".

@Sheraz It is England you are talking about, not Pakistan. Scottland Yard is independent body and even the British Government can not influence its investigations. The charges have not even been filed against these individuals, and people have already started making excuses.

In Asylum report of Dr Imran Farooq he wrote as
My life is in danger from establishment, Nawaz Sharif and Jamat Islami. He left the Pakistan after Army operation launched by Navaz Sharif and ISI. NZ misguided Army and use PUNJAB triumph card.
Prior to his asylum in London, he was hiding in Pakistan for 7 years. All those seven years Altaf Hussain was in London. So he was frightened by agencies, NS and Jamat Islami not from his friend Altaf Hussain.
he recorded his Statement in the home office of London against Nawaz Sharif and jamat islami.
He became inactive in politics prior to his death. He was married and has two kids. He worked in the medical store for his family.
But he had no fear to leave London, WHY? He was living similar county as Altaf Hussain, Why? Was he afraid from him? Why Not? Because he was always a supporter of Altaf Hussain and MQM.
In past due to fear he hide for 7 years. He did not see the sun for some time, probably after 9 months first time he came out in the sun for 5 minutes. He was afraid from NZ, JI and Agencies but in London he did not hide or run away.
Its mean Altaf Hussain was not his enemy, and he did not felt any threat from him. He knew Altaf Hussain better than all of us. Isn

@MMM - "National interests" go out of the window if a crime like murder is committed in UK. When a police woman was killed from a gunshot from Libyan embassy in 1984, UK severed all diplomatic relations with Libya. In 1986 they allowed US from American bases in the UK to bomb Libya, fir this reason. In 1999, the government of Gaddafi accepted responsibility for her death and agreed to pay compensation to her family. Even after the fall of Gaddafi, Metropolitan Police kept visiting Libya to search the killer. This is how serious they are for a crime like murder.

Timing is very interesting. Nawaz tightening screws on MQM through Altaf. One has to remember that the two main suspects are still under Pakistani secret services custody. Why they havent been handed over to scotland yard, perhaps to be used as bargaining chips for the times like these.

Mr. D Bahi, you want us to concentrate on a report that was used to get him asylum in 1990's. Every Pakistani filing asylum in Europe claims his life is in danger in Pakistan. Don't forget Farooq recorded and left letter behind him that his life was in danger because of bahi in London. Bahi knows it well. British govt is not corrupt Pakistani govt who will let a murderous escape. Dr. Farooq just followed his murderer. He could have been safe in Pakistan. He had his own victim and God got him finally.
