PESHAWAR: The registration of internally displaced persons from the North Waziristan tribal region who had migrated in the wake of Zarb-i-Azb operation to Peshawar and other northern districts started here on Monday.

Fata Disaster Management Authority (FDMA) spokesman told APP that a registration centre had been set up at Government College of Commerce and Management Sciences No 2 here, where registration of displaced families would continue until 3pm.

On the first day, the spokesman said IDPs from Miramshah would be registered whereas those displaced from Boya and Dattakhel would be registered on July 8.

Residents of Mir Ali will be registered on July 9, Dosali and Garyum on July 10, Razmak and Shawal on July 11, Ghulam Khan on July 12 and remaining displaced would be registered on July 14.

The registration of IDPs who had travelled to southern districts was also underway in Bannu, where three registration centres were established.

The IDPs of southern districts can register themselves at Government Commerce College Bannu, Centennial Model School Bannu, Government High School No 4 and Bannu Sugar Mills registration centres.

Mir Ali, Razmak and Miramshah sub-divisions’ IDPs can register themselves at these registration centres in Bannu from July 3 to 15.The staff of FDMA and line departments is assisting IDPs in the registration process.

The government has made elaborate arrangements for security, provision of ration and non-food items to each registered dislocated family.

Electricity was also provided to IDPs camps besides water coolers, fans and non-food items.

Specialist doctors and paramedics are also assisting the civil administration by providing free of cost medical services to the displaced.

The FDMA spokesman said the government was determined to register every displaced person in order to ensure speedy distribution of relief amount, goods and other services so that no family was deprived of the facilities.

Rescue1122 has provided three state-of-the-art ambulances along with staff to help IDPs in case of an emergency.

All the DCs have been directed by the PDMA to constitute district level committees to collect relevant information about displaced persons residing with their relatives and in rented buildings.

This data will be used for security as well as for provision of relief and cash to IDPs.

The government has directed the Public Health Engineering Department to ensure clean drinking water facilities in the camps.

Additional vehicles were also placed at the disposal of district administration Bannu to ensure quick relief to the displaced people.
