Foundation, KGS in quarters

KARACHI, Dec 25 Karachi Grammar School (KGS) and Foundation Public School booked places in the quarter-finals of the ongoing Karachi United (KU) School Football Championship when they registered their second consecutive wins at the DHA Ground on Thursday.

The five matches played on the day saw KGS thrashing Civilisation School North Nazimabad 8-0. Shahzad Razi scored the tournament's third hat-trick (38th, 41st and 54th minutes). Zaid Kerai (seventh and 26th minutes) and left fullback Ali Haider (53rd and 59th minutes) scored two goals each. Karim Kerai chipped in one (15th minute).

In another match, Foundation Public School edged past DA High School 1-0. The goal was headed in by Foundation's Rehman Minhas in the 16th minute.

The BVS High School-Education Bay encounter saw BVS winning 3-0. Anas Aftab scored two goals (16th and 24th minute) for the winners while the third came through Usman Jamil in the 42nd minute.

Army Public School beat City School PAF 1-0. The winner was scored by Sikander Butt.

Lyceum School, meanwhile, were kept waiting by Avicenna until they were awarded a walkover.

Friday's fixture Beaconhouse Jubilee v Generations School at 8.00am.
