ISLAMABAD, Oct 30: The Shalimar police have registered a case against a man on the charge of defrauding a citizen.

Sultan Mehmood complained to the police that on September 14 he received a call from a man who introduced himself as Ali Raza. Claiming that he was calling from a cellular company, the man informed Mehmood that he had won Rs1 million.

The caller asked Mr Mehmood to deposit Rs279,590 in a bank to receive the prize. The complainant said after depositing the amount, he found the caller’s mobile phone switched off. Investigation officer ASI Zafar Iqbal said the victim had produced the deposit slip and the cell number of the accused. He said the police were trying to trace the accused. —Staff Reporter
