KARACHI, July 6: Four women police commandos were among the 229 eaglets and 394 elite police personnel who completed the 14th eaglet course and the 27th elite police course at the Benazir Bhutto Elite Police Training Centre Razzaqabad here on Friday.
The police personnel were imparted anti-terrorism training, including training to combat kidnapping for ransom cases, robberies, hijacking and other heinous crimes.
As many as 26,800 officers and personnel have been trained at this school since 1990.
Speaking at the passing-out parade ceremony, Inspector General of Sindh Police Mushtaq Ahmed Shah said that an approval had been granted for the establishment of modern indoor firing ranges for police training.
He also expressed satisfaction over the night firing training of the police commandos.
He said that an anti-terrorism training institute was being established where commandos would be given 10-month training.
The syllabus would also include computer literacy and human rights, he said.
The IGP announced a residential project for officers and personnel of the Elite Police Training Centre, provision of gas to family quarters and other facilities for the police.
He said that children of policemen would be given facilities of higher education and scholarships and insurance cover would be extended to all officers and personnel.
