PESHAWAR, March 8: Four people of a family, including two women, were gunned down and two others wounded in their house in Shaheen Town on University Road here in the small hours on Thursday, police said.

The deceased were identified as Bab Bebi and Bilal, wife and son of Hazrat Shah respectively; Kainat, wife of Jamal; and Sabihullah, son of Tahirullah. The two injured, including Jamal and Kiramat, were taken to Khyber Teaching Hospital where their condition was stated to be stable.

An official of Tehkal police station said that some armed men had broken into the house at about 2am and sprayed all the family members with bullets while they were asleep.

According to the FIR registered at Tehkal police station, a complainant Ms Neelum, daughter of Hazrat Shah, has accused Ms Fatima and Zulfiqar, residents of Ganj, of killing her family members.

The police official said that Ms Kainat had married Jamal against the will of her parents that had infuriated her family members, who were bent upon killing the couple. However, Jamal survived the attack.

When contacted, an official of Yakatoot police station said that a year ago one Madad Khan, son of Ghufran, of Sufaid Dehri area had informed the police that his daughter Kainat had gone to a nearby shop for buying milk, but she did not return. The FIR (358 under Section 365-B) had also been registered in this regard.

"I am of the firm belief that my daughter has been kidnapped by Jamal," Mr Madad had said in his report.
