RAWALPINDI, Dec 4: An upsurge in auto-theft cases was witnessed in Rawalpindi as ten people were deprived of their vehicles by some unidentified thieves on Saturday, police confirmed.

None of the stolen vehicles could be recovered by the police so far. The New Town police circle was the worst hit area where four of the incidents took place.

Mohammad Imran, a resident of Lahore was going to Murree from Satellite town in his car RIA-4401 when three unidentified persons signaled him to stop near Nawaz Sharif Park. As he stopped his car, they opened the doors and embarked the car. After getting inside, they pulled out their pistols and forced the driver to take the car away from the police picket and later they took away the vehicle pushing the driver out.

Syed Zainul-Abidin lodged a complaint with the New Town police that he had parked his Toyota car outside his house but he found it stolen after an hour. Mohammad Nadeem Akbar Khan lodged a similar complaint of theft of his car with the police.

Sikandar Khan's car was stolen from Commercial Market Satellite Town, while Mohammad Shafiq's car was taken away by some unidentified thieves from Westridge area.

Saad Aslam complained the RA Bazaar police that his car was stolen by some unidentified thieves while Raja Munir Advocate's car was taken away from the Civil Lines area.

Ziauddin Mehtab and Sardar Imtiaz Ali Khan lodged separate complaints with the Airport police of theft of their cars from Chaklala Scheme III market area, while Sheraz Qamar Nizami's motorcycle was stolen from Pirwadhai area.— Staff Reporter
