ISLAMABAD, Nov 15: Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) on Tuesday arrested two men and two women on the charge of stealing copper wire and rods worth over one million rupees from an under-construction grid station in the city’s rural area.

Police said the gang of four struck the construction site in Tarlai on Sunday night, held its two security guards at gunpoint and made off with their loot in a vehicle, leaving the guards bound and gagged.

Iesco staff arriving at the work site next morning freed them and found that the thieves had taken away 1,200-metre long copper conductor wire and 24 copper earth-rods, used in the base of grid stations. Allegedly the thieves also robbed the guards of their mobile phones and Rs14,000 in cash.

On learning that a heap of copper wire was lying in a house in Mohammadi Town, the investigators raided the house and recovered the looted items. The raiding party also arrested four robbers who were residing in the rented house.

SSP Mohammad Yousuf Malik appreciated the performance of the CIA staff and announced cash prizes and commendation certificates for the members of the police team.
