Mohammad Asif files appeal against ICC ban

MUMBAI: Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Asif has joined Salman Butt and Mohammad Amir in filing an appeal against his ban with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in Switzerland.

Butt and Amir filed appeals last week but at the time it was unclear whether Asif planned to follow suit after the trio were found guilty of corruption by an ICC tribunal in February for bowling deliberate no balls in a test against England and were banned for a minimum of five years.

On Tuesday, CAS confirmed it had received appeals from all three players.

“The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has registered the appeals filed by Mohammad Asif, Mohammad Amir and Salman Butt against the International Cricket Council (ICC) Anti-Corruption Tribunal’s decision of 5 February 2011,” CAS said in a statement.

The trio also face criminal charges of accepting bribes and trying to defraud in a case brought by the Crown Prosecution Service and must appear in a magistrate’s court on March 17 in London.

We should always be positive. Instead of criticizing them we should give them a chance to improve themselves. It is not wise to forget the previous legends upon getting the new ones.

asif amir and butt best of luck....thats the rite way to answer the baised icc....on 2nd april when we will win the WC inshALLAH then this baised icc relize that we paki are not the match fixer .may ALLAH help u..our prayers are always with u ppl.

Asif amir and butt, these people can sell their own country's pride for their own financial gain. So they are anti-nationalist criminals. I am afraid, that these criminals are still getting support from some of their countrymen like SMAftab, Mahsum etc. and this number is more. My concern is not on these tainted trio asif amir or butt but my concrn is on lakhs of pakistanis like SMAftab, Mahsum who does not know what is right and hence good for them and what is wrong. If this is the scenario then how Pakistan could be a better pakistan tomorrow. My suggstion for this burning issue is Pakistan should concentrate more on education,development, welfare for their citizen rather than spending money on purchasing bullets. I want to see a better Pakistan tommorow.All the best Pakistan.
