KARACHI, Jan 3: President Asif Ali Zardari administered the oath to Justice Iqbal Hameedur Rehman as Chief Justice of the Islamabad High Court at a ceremony held at the Governor’s House here on Monday. According to official sources, Senate Chairman Farooq H. Naek, Federal Law Minister Babar Awan, Interior Minister Rehman Malik, Sindh High Court Chief Justice Sarmad Jalal Osmany and senior SHC judges, Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad and Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Sindh Assembly Speaker Nisar Ahmad Khuhro, provincial ministers of the Pakistan People’s Party and the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, legislators, lawyers and high officials attended the ceremony.

The president congratulated the newly-appointed chief justice.

Chief Justice Iqbal Hameedur Rehman will administer the oath to Justice Muhammad Anwar Khan Kasi and Justice Riaz Ahmad Khan on Jan 4 at the Islamabad High Court. After the oath-taking ceremony, the IHC will start functioning on a regular basis.
