Pakistan make Asian U-18 volleyball last 8

LAHORE: Pakistan stormed into the quarter-finals of the Asian Boys U-18 Volleyball Championship after recording their second successive straight-sets victory, defeating Kazakhstan 3-0 in Haikou, China, on Monday.

According to the Pakistan Volleyball Federation (PVF), the national side became the first team to qualify for the last eight.

Having opened their campaign with a 3-0 victory over Kyrgyzstan, the young Green Shirts carried their momentum into their second Pool ‘C’ match and produced an even more commanding performance against Kazakhstan.

Pakistan won 25-14, 25-12, 25-9 to seal top spot in the group and book a place in the quarter-finals.

They will now face the second-placed team from Pool ‘A’, which is yet to be determined.

According to the PVF, Fahad Ali, Mohammad Anas, captain Irfan Khan, Saran Baig and Faizullah were Pakistan’s standout performers.

Pakistan will conclude their Pool ‘C’ campaign against Thailand on Tuesday.

On Sunday, Pakistan began their campaign with a comfortable 3-0 victory over Kyrgyzstan, winning 25-10, 25-19, 25-17.
