ISLAMABAD: Poland’s National Day was celebrated with a reception marking the historic Constitution of May 3, 1791, as the Polish envoy reflected on over four years of diplomatic engagement in Pakistan, highlighting strengthened bilateral ties, shared global concerns and deepening people-to-people connections.
The Polish ambassador, Maciej Pisarski, and his spouse, Justyna Pisarska, were pleased to welcome chief guest Minister for Climate Change Dr Musadik Masood Malik and friends of the embassy.
Addressing his guests including government officials, diplomats and members of civil society, Ambassador Maciej Pisarski described the constitution as a symbol of Poland’s enduring commitment to freedom, self-determination and civic values. He noted that the occasion also offered an opportunity to reflect on his tenure in Pakistan, which he described as marked by “unique moments, exceptional encounters and unforeseen experiences”.
In his views on global developments, the envoy expressed concern over ongoing conflicts, including the war in Ukraine, the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and terrorism affecting various regions, including Pakistan.
He emphasised the importance of upholding international law, justice and human dignity, while commending Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts in promoting dialogue and de-escalation in regional conflicts.
He noted that bilateral relations between Poland and Pakistan had reached a new level, citing high-level exchanges, including the visit of Poland’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski to Islamabad in October 2025. Engagements with Pakistan’s leadership, including President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, helped open new avenues of cooperation, he said.
Economic ties had also expanded, with bilateral trade surpassing $1.3 billion last year. The ambassador highlighted the growing role of Polish investment, particularly in the energy sector, where Polish companies had contributed to gas exploration projects in Sindh.
He expressed optimism about further collaboration in emerging fields such as fintech and green technologies.
Beyond official engagements, the envoy underscored the importance of cultural and social initiatives. The embassy had supported educational and vocational projects in underserved communities, including in northern areas, while also promoting women’s empowerment and cultural exchange through music, arts and academic cooperation.
Reflecting on his time in Pakistan, the ambassador expressed gratitude to his team, local partners and the Pakistani people for their support and hospitality.
He said the relationships built during his tenure would remain a lasting legacy, strengthening the friendship between the two countries.
He ended his remarks with a message of goodwill and appreciation for Pakistan’s rich culture and enduring partnership with Poland.
