LOWER DIR: Three people, including a man and his wife, were shot dead ‘for honour’ in the Gandigar area of Upper Dir district on Tuesday, the police said.

Officials said that the couple belonged to the Gandigar area, while the other man was a resident of Samarbagh.

According to the police, a man opened fire on a moving vehicle, killing his wife and another individual, over suspicion that they had illicit relations. Meanwhile, the attacker was also shot dead by his son, who fled the scene.

The bodies were shifted to a nearby hospital for medico-legal formalities, while police registered a case and launched an investigation into the killings.

District police officer Aslam Nawaz said that a search operation had been launched to arrest the suspects. He said that the police had clues about the shooters and they would be arrested soon.

He said that strict checking was also under way at the entry and exit points as part of efforts to trace and apprehend those involved in the attack.
