GUJRAT: The two suspects allegedly involved in the murder of a woman and her three-year-old daughter in Rehmat Pura locality in Garjakh police precincts have been “killed in the firing of their own accomplices” during an encounter with the police.

The Gujranwala City Police Officer (CPO) Dr Ghias Gul had earlier said that the two suspects – Ghulam Mustafa, the husband of the victim, Nida Bibi, and a hit man, Yasir, he had hired to murder her – had been traced and arrested.

During interrogation, the hired assassin had also confessed to have raped the woman before killing her. He had also killed the victim’s minor daughter, Dur-i-Adan.

A spokesman for Gujranwala police said that both the suspects were in custody, when their unidentified armed accomplices opened fire on the police party in the precincts of Ladhewala police station on Thursday.

He said that the police retaliated and when the firing stopped, both suspects were found shot dead. He claimed they were killed in the firing by their own accomplices.

The police have registered a case against the suspects who attacked the police and started investigation. The woman and her minor daughter were found slaughtered in a room of their house on April 27.
