KARACHI: The leadership of the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) has expressed grave concern over the proposed bill to amend the Trade Organisation Rules 2013 amid a shaky business environment.

FPCCI President Atif Ikram Sheikh said the proposed legislation will eliminate district-level chambers, destroy institutional structures, and devastate district economies.

“Any restriction on trade organisations could exclude export-oriented businesses from representation. The amendment will demoralise the business community and discourage SMEs and women-led businesses,” the FPCCI chief said.

He urged the parliament to reject the bill and allow district chambers to continue their operations. “This move will have far-reaching consequences for the economy and the business community. We request the authorities to reconsider the proposed legislation and ensure that the district chambers are allowed to function effectively,” Ikram added.
