LAKKI MARWAT: An official of the Peshawar High Court’s Bannu Bench was injured in a gun attack near his house in the Gandi Sahib Khan area here on Sunday night.

Police identified the injured employee as Abdul Waheed and said that the attackers managed to flee the place after the firing. They said that the injured official was shifted to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, Serai Naurang.

The injured told police in his preliminary report that he noticed four to five armed people in the fields when he came out of his house for some personal work.

He said that he turned towards his house and in the meantime the suspects opened fire. He told police that he and his family had no enmity with anyone.

Shaheed Asmatullah Khan Khattak police launched a search for the assailants after registering a case against the suspects.

Meanwhile, a police constable, Zeenatullah, who had been kidnapped by terrorists a day earlier, was released on Monday.

An official source said terrorists had abducted two people, including the policeman, from Tabi Murad area within the limits of Shahbazkhel police station. “After the incident the police launched efforts to secure their safe release,” he said, adding that the law enforcers had also increased patrolling in the rural localities and tightened checking on various roads.

He said that the kidnappers freed the cop without any harm and he reached his home safely.
