QUETTA: Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti announced on Sunday the provincial government has revived 164 Basic Health Units in the province and successfully completed the recruitment of nearly 3,000 doctors on a contract basis to serve in these units.

He said that because of the government’s efforts people living in far-flung parts of the province are now receiving medical treatment closer to their homes.

Calling the government move a major step forward for the province’s public health system, the chief minister said this would bring tangible improvements in the lives of ordinary citizens.

He said the government plans to expand the scope of these services to ensure every citizen of Balochistan has access to timely and the best medical treatment.
