RAWALPINDI: A two-year-old girl died from burn injuries while her parents and two siblings were shifted to hospital in critical conditions after a fire broke out due to a gas leak in an underground pipeline adjacent to their house in Jhanda Chichi on Monday.
Initial police investigations suggested that the gas leak infiltrated the house of Rameez at Aziz Colony, causing an explosion followed by a massive fire. All family members sustained burn injuries, and a child lost her life.
Mr Rameez, along with his wife and three children, was residing in a rented house when he triggered a light switch, causing a powerful explosion followed by a fire as the room had filled with leaked gas.
The police investigating officer quoting a brother of Mr Ramee said none of the injured was able to record their statement with the police as they were 70 per cent burnt.
“The two-year-old girl, Eman Rameez, expired due to critical burn injuries,” he said.
The injured, Rameez, 30, his wife Mahram, 26, and their three children - eight year old Daim Rameeez, seven-year-old Nayab Rameez and two-year-old Eman Rameez - were first rushed to Holy Family Hospital and due to their critical condition were later shifted to Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims) Islamabad.
