ISLAMABAD: The Sup­reme Court has stepped up its efforts to modernise operations through a comprehensive IT reforms programme aimed at delivering more efficient, transparent and citizen-focused services.

A progress review meeting was held on Saturday at the Supreme Court, chaired by Registrar Mohammad Salim Khan, to assess the implementation of the Reform Action Plan Monitoring and Coordination Matrix.

The agenda focused on enhancing public-oriented service delivery by integrating information technology and strengthening human resource management (HRM) across the Supreme Court and its branch registries.

The registrar was briefed on key developments made in digitisation, case management improvements and e-filing systems, all of which are aimed at increasing transparency, efficiency and accessibility in judicial processes.

The registrar acknowledged the progress made so far but expressed concern over persistent challenges faced by branch registries, especially with regard to IT infrastructure and support services.

He emphasised the urgent need to revamp the IT Directorate to bring it in line with modern standards and to pilot the implementation of an E-Office system.

The registrar was briefed that coordination meetings with relevant government departments and technical stakeholders were already underway to ensure the timely delivery of these milestones.

In addition to IT reforms, the registrar underscored the significance of strengthening human resource management as a parallel pillar of institutional reform.

He stressed the need for capacity-building, performance-based evaluation and deployment of specialised IT and administrative personnel to ensure sustainability and responsiveness in service delivery.

He also called for identifying gaps in workforce planning and aligning HR policies with emerging digital demands.
