ISLAMABAD: Inspector General of Police Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi on Saturday directed the force to prevent crime, improve law and order and ensure public safety and security arrangements for important installations and personalities, including foreigners.

The directives were issued at a meeting held to review the police performance regarding crime control, law and order along with security measures in and around the Red Zone, local and foreign installations, including embassies and high commissions and diplomats.

The meeting was attended by the deputy inspectors general of police headquarters, security and operations, senior superintendents of police and superintendents of police. The IGP reviewed the overall measures taken to counter criminal activities besides arrangements to ensure security of foreign personalities, state guests and diplomats. The police chief directed the officials to mount vigilance and surveillance at the entry and exit points of the high security zone.

He also reviewed the steps taken to curb crime in the capital. All officers should take step to curb, robberies, drug trafficking and other heinous crime. In this regard, the police should get assistance of modern technology besides human resources and intelligence.

He ordered them to investigate cases on merit and collect all evidence. Challans of the cases should be sent to courts for trial with solid and concrete evidence so the accused involved in criminal activities get punishment.
