RAWALPINDI: The water rescue team’s search operation for the six-year-old kid who drowned in Leh Nullah in Gulistan Colony was called off on Tuesday, after the team complained of skin issues and sought medical evaluation.

The search operation was extended to Bahria Town’s phase VIII by Rescue 1122 on Tuesday but they were unable to trace the missing boy due to rising water level in Leh Nullah. “The search operation for the missing boy has been called off and will not be resumed on Wednesday,” district emergency officer (DEO) told Dawn.

He said that some divers involved in the search operation have been complaining about skin issues/rashes due to stinking water in the nullah. As part of the search operation, the nullah had been divided into three sectors, a spokesman for the Rescue 1122 said.

Mohammad Zahid, a six-year-old boy, drowned in the nullah while playing outside his house while his father also drowned while trying to rescue his son on Saturday. The dead body of Mehrban Khan, 36, the father of the missing boy was recovered on the same day while a search operation was launched to retrieve the boy’s body.

The spokesman said that all available resources are being used to search for the missing boy as Rescue 1122’s special water rescue teams are continuing search operations at various locations in Leh Nullah.
