LAHORE: The Punjab government on Friday appointed vice chancellors (VCs) in two public sector universities.

According to notifications, Dr Adnan Noor was appointed VC of the Information Technology University while Prof Ahmad Shuja, who was top on the list of the candidates, was appointed VC of the University of Gujrat but he declined the position for personal reasons.

Subsequently, the government appointed the second position-holder Prof Dr Zahoorul Haq as University of Gujrat VC.

Two major universities — Islamia University Bahawalpur and the Government College University (GCU) Lahore — are still working without regular VCs.
