BAHAWALPUR: A man and his daughter died, while two others of the family suffered serious injuries when the roof of an under-construction house collapse in Ali Town in the limits of Seatle Mari police station, Multan, on Tuesday night.

According to Rescue 1122 officials, on being informed of the incident, a team was dispatched to the spot.

The rescuers pulled a man, Shakeel and his three-year-old daughter Mehwish out of the debris in critical condition, but both succumbed to their injuries on the spot.

They said Shakeel’s son Ali (7) and his mother Ramzana Bibi (60), who were also seriously injured in the incident, were shifted to the Nishtar Hospital, Multan, in a precarious condition.

Injured

Nephew of the PTI’s arrested MNA Malik Aamir Dogar was allegedly shot at and injured on Tuesday in the firing by unidentified persons at Vehari Road bus stand in Multan.

The MNA’s nephew, Malik Basit Dogar, was attacked on his way home in Mumtazabad. He suffered a bullet injury to his leg and was shifted to the Nishtar Hospital for treatment.

Multan police have registered a case.

Canal Breach

A 20-foot wide breach in the Upper Pakpattan Canal reportedly damaged standing crops of maize, fodder and recently cultivated wheat on a vast tract of land at 22 Wala Pul near Vehari city on Wednesday.

On being informed of the canal breach, teams of Rescue 1122 and the irrigation department reached the spot and with the help of locals, plugged it after hours-long hectic efforts.

According to the affected farmers, the breach was caused due to silting and a lack of proper maintenance of the canal by the irrigation department.

They demanded the government should pay financial compensation for their losses.
