A villager, Riaz Mohammad, reported to the Zaida police station that his son, Shehryar Khan, had left home five days ago, but didn’t return. He said his mobile phone was also coming off.

He said he was informed by someone that his son’s body was lying in Badri area. The complainant said his son was killed with a firearm.

On the report of the victim’s father, the police registered an FIR against unknown assailants and started investigation.

Meanwhile, Niaz Ali, a schoolteacher, died after he fell from a ladder in his house, his family members said on Friday.

APPEAL: The Swabi Action Committee (SAC) on Friday appealed to the people not to pay the inflated electricity bills.

The demand was made during a meeting of the forum held here.

Salim Khan Advocate, former provincial general secretary of ANP and a member of the committee, torn his power bill during the meeting, saying he would only pay for the electricity produced from water.

Mr Salim said power bill of his house and hujra for last 10 months was Rs150,000, which he had not paid.

“I will pay for the electricity generated from water and not for the electricity generated from costly fuels,” he elaborated, adding Tarbela Dam’s powerhouse was situated in Swabi, whose people should be given relief in power bills.

He called for unity among people to fight for their right of getting electricity at discounted rates.
