NAROWAL: Thirsty-one people were injured as a bus rolled over on the Sahuwala-Sambarial road on Thursday.

Rescue 1122 spokesperson Waseem Ahmed said the bus was a part of a wedding procession and it was going to a marriage hall in Sambrial from Sahuwala. It overturned while taking a U-turn at a high speed.

Rescue 1122 immediately reached the spot and provided first aid to the injured.

Seventeen of the injured including Naeem Akhtar, Salman Ahmed Muhammad Ashraf, Alia Aslam, Ayesha Rani, Farid Ahmed and Shiraz Ahmed, were shifted to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Sambarial. Fourteen people who had received minor injuries were provided first aid on the spot. They included Abu Bakr, Siddiq, Karamat, Muhammad Ahmed, Sadia Bibi, Kulsoom Bibi and Farhan Ali.

TWO DIE: Two youth died and three were injured as two speeding motorcycles collided near Nangal Sudkan Stop on the Shakargarh Road in Zafarwal.

Those injured in the collision were identified as Ali Raza, Abdul Rasheed, Khalid Hussain, Farooq Ahmed and Asghar Ali. The rescuers provided them with first aid and shifted them to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Zafarwal. Ali Raza and Abdul Rasheed succumbed to their injuries in the hospital.

MURDER: A man and his first wife killed his second wife over a domestic dispute in tehsil Daska.

Adeel Ahmad, a resident of village Baro Cheema, told the police that his 27-year-old sister, Alishba, was married four years back to Muhammad Shahbaz, a resident of village Kandan Sayan.

Alishba lived with Shahbaz’s first wife, Faiza, in the same house and Shahbaz and Faiza used to torture her. He said on Thursday, Shahbaz told him by phone that Alisha had died. Adeel alleged that Shahbaz and Faiza tortured his sister over a domestic dispute and she died of violence.

Bombanwala police registered a murder case against Shahbaz and Faiza.

FLYOVER: The Muzaffarpura Railway Crossing Flyover project is expected to be completed before the deadline of August 14, 2024, at an estimated cost of Rs1.98 billion.

Sialkot Deputy Commissioner (DC) Muhammad Zulqarnain, who reviewed the project on Thursday, told the media here on August 14, that the 1,083-foot long and 51-foot wide two-lane flyover would be opened for traffic within the deadline.

The DC said that 18-foot wide service roads would also be constructed on both sides of the flyover. He said special attention should be paid on drainage system during the project’s execution.

He said that the construction of the flyover will help reduce the traffic congestion and facilitate the access of motorists to Wazirabad, Gujrat, Islamabad and Lahore Motorway.
