PESHAWAR: The home and tribal affairs department has extended the Section 144 of Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) for another six months, banning firing in the air, flying of drones and use of high beam laser lights in the areas around Pakistan Air Force base and its camp in Badhber area here.

It is to be recalled here the Peshawar deputy commissioner had imposed the section on October 31, 2022, which expired on February 2. The deputy commissioner had requested extension in the ban in the larger public interest.

At his request, the home and tribal affairs department’s additional chief secretary Mohammad Abid Majeed extended the ban for another six months, a notification issued by the department on Monday said.

“Anyone contravening the order is liable to be proceeded against under Section 188 of Pakistan Penal Code, 1860. This order shall come into force immediately and shall remain in force for a period of six months unless modified or withdrawn earlier,” the notification said.

The home department has also imposed a ban on selling of pigeons and kite flying around the PAF base.
