SUKKUR: The Sukkur anti-terrorism court on Tuesday granted interim bail to two suspects nominated as facilitators in the journalist Jan Muhammad Mahar’s murder case.

The judge heard the counsels’ arguments and granted the interim bail to suspects Bakhshal Mahar and his son Babar Mahar in the sum of Rs50,000 each.

Mahar was assassinated in August near Saint Saviour School within the jurisdiction of C-Section police station. The Sukkur police lodged an FIR against 16 suspects, including seven nominated ones, while two were arrested facilitators who were granted the interim bail.

Meanwhile, the office-bearers of the Sukkur Union of Journalists held a session at Sukkur Press Club to review the arrangement for the upcoming ‘Shaheed Jan Muhammad Mahar Journalists Convention’ on Dec 19 at the club.
