GILGIT: Pakistan Customs foiled another attempt to smuggle mobile phones and liquor from China through Khunjerab Pass.

Imtiaz Hussaib Shigri, Assistant Collector Customs, Sost told Dawn that Pakistan Customs kept a strict vigilance on the movement of goods, being transported between Pakistan and China through Khunjerab Pass.

He said while acting on an information, the Customs staff seized 100 bottles of Chinese origin liquor and around 490 mobile phones of assorted brands at Sost Town from a vehicle coming from China.

The value of seized goods has been reported to be around Rs14 million.

He said this was the second attempt in a row this month to smuggle such a huge number of mobile phones through Khunjarab pass.

Last month, 720 mobile sets worth a market value of Rs4 million, were seized on Oct 16.
