ISLAMABAD: Robbers on Thursday looted cash and valuables from citizens at different places in Islamabad and even snatched official arms and ammunition from policemen who were doing breakfast at a roadside hotel.

In another incident in Islamabad’s industrial area, robbers looted Rs3 million cash and shot injured two people during the robbery, police said.

As per a police source, three persons armed with weapons entered a roadside hotel at Dhoke Paracha, Sangjani, and looted cash worth over Rs15,000 and mobile phones from four persons who taking meal there.

Interestingly, the robbers also held four police officers who were on patrolling duty who were also present in the hotel and snatched their weapons and magazines before fleeing.

A case was registered at Sangjani Police Station against the unidentified criminals.

Meanwhile, two people were shot and injured during a robbery in Islamabad’s I-9/2 sector where robbers looted cash worth Rs3 million.

The injured were identified as Mohammad Akbar, a cashier, and Matloob, a driver at an industry.

According to police sources, Akbar came over to a bank located in the area of I-9/2 and withdrew cash worth Rs4.1 million. Out of the total amount, he placed Rs1.1 million in one of his pockets of his vest under his shirt, while put the remaining amount in a bag.

On his way to the steel factory in a carry van, three armed motorcycle riders intercepted the vehicle at I-9/2 and looted cash worth Rs3 million along with the wallets of the victim and his driver.

The robbers fled with the looted booty, and while escaping from the spot, the criminals shot at the two, and as a result, both sustained bullet injuries.

A case was registered at the nearby police station against the robbers.
