KARACHI: Police on Sunday claimed to have taken into custody a woman for killing her newborn daughter by throwing her from their sixth-floor apartment in the Liaquatabad area.

The police said that the body of the newborn girl was found outside the apartment complex. During investigation, the woman was taken into custody for questioning after her neighbours informed the police that she was mother of the newborn.

They identified the woman as Sana and said she appeared to be mentally unstable and an addict.

The police said the woman would be referred to a psychiatrist for check-up. Her overall medical examination would be conducted on Monday (today).
