KARACHI: The opposition Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) on Monday appointed MPA Khurrum Sher Zaman the president of Karachi chapter with 42-member body that would oversee organisational affairs in the metropolis.

In a statement, PTI’s provincial president Haleem Adil Sheikh announced that Rehman Mahesar would be the new general secretary of the Karachi division with MPAs Arsalan Taj Ghumman and Shahzad Qureshi as vice presidents.

Mr Sher Zaman, who is not attending the ongoing session of the Sindh Assembly as he is believed to be in hiding, expressed his gratitude to PTI chairman Imran Khan for giving him the new responsibility.

“Securing freedom for our imprisoned workers and establishing effective communication channels with the people of Karachi will be my top priority. These initiatives are aimed at fostering a closer connection between the party and the public, ensuring that their voices are heard and their concerns are addressed,” he said.
