KARACHI: The newly commissioned Pakistan Navy Ship (PNS) Shahjahan arrived in Karachi on Friday.

PNS Shahjahan was commissioned on May 10 in a ceremony held in Shanghai, China, which was also attended by the Chief of the Naval Staff, Admiral Mohammed Amjad Khan Niazi, as the chief guest.

During its maiden voyage to Pakistan, PNS Shahjahan visited Malaysia and participated in the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA) along with 30 other participating countries. During its stay at Langkawai, PNS Shahjahan was paid a visit by various dignitaries, delegates, and locals.

Later, PNS Shahjahan visited Colombo, Sri Lanka. The visit was aimed at strengthening bilateral ties, enhancing interoperability, and exploring new vistas of cooperation between the two navies.

Upon reaching Pakistani waters, the Commander of the Pakistan Fleet, Rear Admiral Mohammed Faisal Abbasi, boarded the ship to extend a warm welcome on the completion of its maiden voyage.

He congratulated the crew on the successful trials and commissioning of the ship. A reception ceremony was held at PN Dockyard, too, which was attended by the families of the crew, officers, and sailors.
