MANSEHRA: Xen of the public health engineering department Amina Waheed on Tuesday said the water table had dropped significantly in urban parts of Mansehra district.

She, however, said all water schemes executed by her department were functional ensuring uninterrupted supply to people across the district.

“Water schemes successfully executed by our department are providing safe drinking water to the people across the district,” Ms Amina told the oath-taking ceremony for workers union of the Oghi tehsil municipal administration here.

The Xen said the department lacked financial and other resources but continued to contribute to the area’s development.

Tehsil council chairman Nawabzada Haysam Khan, who was also in attendance, said the TMA removed encroachments from all major arteries in the city and its suburbs.

“We have evolved a comprehensive plan to develop Oghi city and its suburbs and will earmark funds for its beautification,” he said.

Earlier, Ms Amina administered the oath to the office-bearers of the newly-elected workers union.

HOSPITAL OKAYED: Federal parliamentary secretary and MNA Mohammad Sajjad Awan on Tuesday said a modern hospital and a girls’ college would be set up in Mansehra district.

“Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has approved a hospital and a girls’ college for our district. They will be developed in the areas neglected by the last PTI government,” Mr Awan told reporters here.

The MNA said the federal government was striving to provide women with all necessary opportunities to excel in life.

“Our [Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s] government not only resumed mega development projects abandoned by the last PTI government but also launched many more of healthcare, education, electricity and infrastructure,” he said.

The MNA, who is the elder brother of PML-N leader retired captain Mohammad Safdar, said the PTI government neglected the development of Tanawal but the current federal government launched many projects for the area’s development.

He said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s administration was striving to address the economic crisis caused by the incompetence of the PTI government.
