LAHORE: SSP Sohail Zafar Chattha on Thursday took charge of the director general (DG) of the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE).

Before assuming this position, Mr Chattha was serving as the city police officer in Islamabad.

There are reports that the PML-N government in the Centre brought him back to Punjab to give him some ‘hard targets’ being the ACE head as he was known for his aggressive mode of administration.

Mr Chattha had played a key role in the massive agitation movement of the PTI in Islamabad where many ‘terrorism cases’ were registered against party chairman Imran Khan and other top leadership.

Chattha was among 11 former district police officers of Sheikhupura region when the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had launched its investigation into the allegations of corruption and embezzlement in the official funds utilised from 2012 to 2019.
