Australian park rangers find massive toad

Rangers at a national park in Queensland, Australia, found a massive 5.9-pound cane toad that might be the largest ever on record.

The Queensland Department of Environment and Science said in a post on its website that Conway National Park rangers stopped their vehicle for a snake crossing a road near Airlie Beach and spotted a “monster cane toad” nearby.

The rangers nicknamed their discovery “Toadzilla” and removed it from the park due to the danger it could pose to the environment.

“A cane toad that size will eat anything which can fit into its mouth, and that includes insects, reptiles and small mammals,” the post said.

The toad, believed to be a female, weighed in at 5.9 pounds, and it is not known how old she is, but cane toads can live up to 15 years in the wild.

World’s largest IMAX screen

A German movie theatre broke two Guinness World Records with an IMAX screen measuring a whopping 8770.43 square feet!

The Traumplast Leonberg, a multiplex chain in Baden-Württemberg, installed an IMAX screen measuring 127.2 feet by 68.8 feet, setting the Guinness World Records for the largest permanent IMAX screen and the largest permanent cinema screen (overall).

“To put this into perspective, the screen is wider than a Boeing 737 airliner,” Guinness World Records said in announcing the records.

GWR said the screen was measured by a specialist company using laser sensor technology, which allowed them to confirm the screen’s size with millimetre precision.

One Piece superfan amasses world’s largest collection

A Hong Kong man showed his love for the manga and anime series One Piece, by amassing the world’s largest collection of memorabilia.

Lam Siu Fung said his collection of items related to One Piece, the story of young pirate Monkey D. Luffy and his crew as they search for a treasure known as the One Piece, began about a decade ago, and has now grown to 20,125 items.

Fung broke the previous record of 5,656 items, set by Japanese fan Yoshikazu Sanada, Guinness World Records confirmed.

Fung’s collection includes One Piece-themed umbrellas, jigsaw puzzles, alarm clocks, snow globes, sleeping masks, passport covers, a waste basket, toys and more.

Eiichiro Oda, who started the One Piece manga series in 1997, holds a Guinness World Record for the most copies published for the same comic book series by a single author.
