DERA ISMAIL KHAN: A lawyer was killed and his colleague suffered injuries when unknown assailants opened fire on a car in Tajouri village of Tank district on Tuesday.

A guard travelling with the lawyers in the car remained unhurt in the attack, the police said.

Mohammad Younis, a spokesperson of Tank police, said the two lawyers were going to the Tajouri village from Tank city when the attackers ambushed their car when it reached the rural locality. As a result, Dilnawaz Advocate died on the spot, while his colleague, Mustafa Advocate, was injured.

The attackers escaped the area.

A Rescue 1122 spokesperson said a team shifted the body and the injured to a hospital.

Meanwhile, a constable sustained a bullet injury when he put up resistance during a robbery here on Tuesday.

A police official said constable Izzat Khan filed a report, stating he was going to his relative’s house on a motorcycle when a motorcyclist hit his bike and pulled a gun at him in a bid to rob him near the Chashma Right Bank Canal checkpost.

He said when he resisted, the robber opened fire, injuring him seriously. Later, he said the robber snatched his wallet, mobile phone and also took away his motorcycle’s key.
