KARACHI: Pakistan Navy claimed to have seized a big cache of drugs, said to be worth over Rs8 billion.

A PN spokesperson said on Wednesday that two navy ships in collaboration with air unit seized approximately 5,800kg, or 5.8 tonnes, of drugs at north Arabian Sea while conducting maritime security operations.

He said that the navy spotted and intercepted two dhows upon suspicions and during a search seized a large quantity of drugs valued approximately Rs8.6bn in the international market.

Both apprehended dhows have been handed over to law enforcement agencies for further legal proceedings as per the law, the spokesperson added.
