RAWALPINDI: Two persons died while three others were injured after the vehicle they were travelling in crashed into a roadside concrete pillar on Murree Road due to speeding on Monday.

All of the three injured and dead were shifted to Benazir Bhutto Hospital (BBH) where the injured were stated to be in critical condition. Police and emergency service officials said the deceased were identified as Kashif, 28 and Zulqarnain, a resident of Kashmir. The injured were identified as Masood, 25, Jamshaid, 29 and Ahmad Seerat Sharifi, 22.

The accident victims were residents of Satellite Town and Bahria Town.

Meanwhile, a family in Lalazar Colony has been receiving threatening phone calls from unknown callers who claimed to be members of the Taliban.

Mazhar Masood Bhatti lodged a first information report (FIR) with the Civil Lines police saying that he had been living with his brother’s family. He said he heard gunshots on Friday night and thought that they might have been fired at a wedding party.

He said after some time, he came out of his house and observed that there were some bullet holes on the main gate of his house. He said he received a phone call on his mobile phone on Sunday and the caller informed him that they had fired the gunshots on the gate of his house and that they belonged to the Taliban.

The complainant further said after hurling threats on mobile phone, they (suspects) started sending text messages to him saying that he should arrange Rs5 million for them.

Police have registered a case and launched investigation.
