He said municipal workers also sprinkled pesticides in drains to eliminate dengue larvae. The administration has also launched an awareness campaign to sensitise citizens to the symptoms, treatment and preventive measures against dengue, he added.

Meanwhile, district education officer Zahoor Khan has asked heads of schools to educate students on preventive measures against dengue.

In a letter to school heads and sub-divisional education officers, he said banners and posters carrying messages on symptoms, treatment and preventive measures against dengue should be displayed in schools.

He asked them to remove stagnant water spots from premises of schools and ensure water did not accumulate on rooftops.

He also asked for arranging awareness sessions in classrooms and morning assembly.
