Make this academic year different

This is with reference to the cover article, “Make this academic year different” by Muhammad Ibrahim Shafi (YW, July 30). The article was a very timely one, as it is now the start of a new academic term after a long vacation.

We must prepare ourselves for a successful year ahead, and for that we need to plan properly. For instance, we need to arrange our bags and books, all the stationery items and also the things that we are often required to bring in the middle of the school year, such as, plastic clip files, plastic folders etc. We need to keep everything ready beforehand to save our time and energy.

The article “Make this academic year different” by Muhammad Ibrahim Shafi was a reminder we all needed right now. But I would like to add one more point here, that students should make a list of their mistakes, misjudgements and all those things that they lacked in their previous year. They should put that list somewhere they can read easily, so that they do not repeat them in their new academic year.

Common mistakes freelancers make

This is regarding the article “Common mistakes freelancers make” by Ambreen Arshad (YW, July 23). It was an amazing article pointing out all the mistakes that new budding writers make and often don’t even consider them as mistakes. As a result of misjudgement, their contribution gets disapproved.

Everywhere in the world, original content is appreciated and accepted as it shows one’s hard work. Therefore, we should not go for shortcuts like copy-pasting articles from different sources and sending them with our byline. Instead, we should put in positive efforts while writing, and wait patiently then try again.

The cover story “Common mistakes freelancers make” by Ambreen Arshad was a masterpiece, as it gave readers the tips to keep in mind while writing to any publication and how one can avoid those mistakes.

Apart from that, I would like to appreciate the YW team for arranging a super cool and informative magazine for young children. I’ve been a regular reader for a very long time, because the magazine provides the youth with the opportunity to show their creativity.

I desperately wait for Saturdays to arrive so that I can read my favourite magazine. I simply love reading different articles and amazing stories in this magazine.
