GUJRAT: The Punjab government on Tuesday transferred the assistant commissioners of Gujrat and Kharian and replaced them with new officers.

Gujrat AC Umar Daraz Gondal and Kharian AC Sajid Muneer have been transferred with immediate effect and Khizar Hayat and Zohaib Mumtaz, both serving as section officers in Services and General Administration Department, have been posted as ACs of Gujrat and Kharian, respectively.

On Monday, the government had transferred tehsildars of Gujrat, Jhelum and Zaffarwal (Narowal).

SUICIDE BID: A Rescue 1122 team saved the life of a 52-year-old man who jumped into a canal in a suicide bid near Saroki village.

Official sources said a Rescue 1122 team had gone to Upper Jhelum Canal along Sargodha Road for a rescue exercise; however, it reached Saroki Bridge, a man suddenly jumped into the canal to commit suicide.

The rescuers jumped into the water and saved the man who was identified as Muhammad Basheer of Jassoki village. He was shifted to hospital where his condition was stated to be stable.
