LAHORE: Army Whites with seven gold medals and 110 points won the DHA Inter-Departmental National Boxing Championship here on Tuesday.
Navy Greens with two gold and a bronze medals got 35 points and remained the runners-up, while Wapda with two silver and five bronze medals claimed the third place with 45 points.
Overall, 72 bouts were held during the four-day competitions. On the basis of the results in this championship best boxers will be picked to represent the country in this year’s Commonwealth Games.
A cash prize of Rs100,000 was given to pugilist Zohaib Rasheed, who secured bronze medal at the Asian U-22 Boxing Championship in Uzbekistan.
Brig Waheed Gull Satti, Administrator DHA Lahore, announced to extend complete support for holding a training camp for the national boxing team at DHA Lahore.
