MUZAFFARGARH: Dera Ghazi Khan Commissioner Liaquat Ali Chattha suspended from service Tehsildar Aftab Karim Qureshi and patwaris Rana Muhammad Akram and Jaffar Hussain for their involvement in a land fraud in Muzaffargarh’s Mauza Bet Maitla.

Mr Chattha said the revenue officers deliberately lost the land transfer record of the mauza. He ordered an inquiry into land fraud on the application of Abdul Rashid Chandia, of Bait Kabhar. The probe found the three revenue officials guilty of misconduct.

The commissioner said corrupt elements would not be tolerated in DG Khan division. The inquiry officer, Muzaffargarh ADCR, suggested lesser punishment, but the commissioner said the applicant had suffered irreparable damage.

WHEAT PROCUREMENT: South Punjab Housing Secretary Javed Akhtar Mahmood says procurement of wheat in Muzaffargarh district will start on April 5 at the official per maund price of Rs2,200.

He said this at a meeting on wheat procurement in Muzaffargarh. Deputy Commissioner Syed Musa Raza was also present.

Mr Mahmood said facilities should be provided to farmers at procurement centres and bardana should be distributed on merit as per government policy. Gunny bags should be provided to farmers on a first-come, first-served basis without any discrimination. Complaints of farmers should be addressed immediately.

The DC said a target of 130,000 metric tonnes of wheat has been set for which 17 centres are being set up while Pasco will procure wheat in Alipur and Jatoi tehsils. He said eight centres were set up in Muzaffargarh, six in Kot Addu and three in Chowk Sarwar Shaheed tehsils.

Committees have been set up at district and tehsil levels for the procurement of wheat.

FESTIVAL: The two-day spring festival, organised by the Multan district administration, concluded on Friday, breaking the record of public participation.

The performances of singers Malik and Nadia Hashmi were appreciated by thousands of citizens. Cultural performances of different provinces were also presented on the occasion. Commissioner Dr Irshad Ahmed and RPO Javed presided over the function. Deputy Commissioner Amir Karim Khan hosted the function. Multan CPO Khurram Shehzad, Chairman PHA Ejaz Janjua, Special Assistant Haji Javed Akhtar Ansari and other district officers and civil society were present on the occasion.

RADIO PAKISTAN: The foundation stone for the construction of a 200-seat auditorium and an elevator at Radio Pakistan, Multan, costing Rs40 million, was laid on Friday.
